The Institute for NEXT Generation IT Systems (NEXT) operates at the intersection of research, practice, and policy by leading research related to the interconnection of digitally aware intelligent instruments into cooperating systems, facilitating the transition of good ideas into practice, and leveraging advanced practice in research.
NEXT currently houses the Center for Advanced Computing and Communication, the Open System Collaboration and Research Lab, NEXT Services, the Center for Open Source Engineering, and the Secure Open Systems Initiative; and acts as a contact point for a growing list of industry partners.
